From the moment you arrive we want you to feel welcomed into our community. We hope you feel like this is a place for you and your family.
The word of God (the Bible) is essential to everything we do at First Baptist Watauga.
In our Sunday services, we worship through song, prayer, and the preaching of God's Word. We preach expositionally, meaning that we go through entire books of the Bible verse-by-verse to understand all of what the Bible teaches.
When you come to our main entrance on the Eastside of the building, you'll be greeted by one of our greeters who can answer your questions, help you to our secure nursery to check your children in, and help you find your way. Stop and grab a cup of coffee on your way into the service and if you need any help on Sunday mornings, look for those wearing the blue name tags - they'd love to help you.
Throughout the school year, our children (1st-6th grade) have AWANA on Wednesday nights, and our students (7th-12th grade) meet on Wednesday evenings for fun games, authentic relationships, and purposeful teaching. On Sunday mornings, students and children are encouraged to join their parents in the worship service.
Our Growth Groups on Sunday morning study systematically through the Bible using our own curriculum. There are classes for every age group, from nursery to senior adults. Every group is studying the same passage of Scripture at their age level. If you see a class you want to attend, ask our greeters, and they can direct you to your class.
Following the worship service on Sunday mornings, we’d love to meet you in the main hall of the building. You can meet our pastors, and they and our greeters will be available to answer your questions and/or pray with you. We hope to see you on Sunday!
If you're checking in kids, we recommend arriving at least twenty minutes before the service. Feel free to come early and grab a cup of coffee on your way into the service.
Come as you are. You'll find a wide range of dress at First Baptist Watauga, from shorts to dresses and sport coats.
If you own a Bible, yes, bring it! We begin each sermon by opening our Bibles. We teach from the Christian Standard Bible (CSB). If you don't own a Bible, we have Bibles available and would love for you to take one of them with you as our gift.
We sing a mix of old and new hymns and songs, all with a commitment to biblical faithfulness, theological richness, and congregational participation in our singing. We have a Spotify “Songs of Our Faith” playlist with many of the songs we sing as a church body.
Absolutely. During service, we have childcare for infants-kindergarten in our nursery with our vetted and background checked volunteers, but we encourage worship with the whole family.
