What's the culture like at First Baptist Watauga?
The focus of our worship and teaching is the Lord and His Word. Our goal is to please Him and be faithful to Scripture. Sunday's at First Baptist Watauga are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest. Pastor Dennis will preach a message that is text-driven so it may be convicting or encouraging, but it will never be watered-down! Our pastor likes to suggest that he is more concerned about being "savior-sensitive" than "seeker-sensitive" in his proclamation of God's Word.
How long is a church service?
In total, a First Baptist Watauga service is about 70 minutes in length. Services begin with the worship team leading the church in praise through music - song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of service is complete, our pastor will come out to share a message out of God's word
What are Growth Groups?
Our Growth Groups on Sunday morning study systematically through the Bible using the Gospel Project. There are classes for every age group from nursery to senior adults. Every group is studying the same passage of Scripture on their age level. This is great for families to be able to discuss what they are studying during the week. See our specific growth groups here.
What about my kids?
We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week - and in our Children's Ministry, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our Children's program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in. We have a secure Nursery (infant-kindergarten) area and some great Growth Group (1st-6th grade) classes. During service we have childcare for infants-kindergarten, but we encourage worship with the whole family.
