In Cooperation with the North American Mission Board, FBC Watauga has felt led to develop a partnership with the pastors and missionaries currently serving in South Dakota. Br. Dennis and two representatives from Watauga attended a vision tour of the Black Hill area of South Dakota and found specific area that we believe God is directing our church to get involved.
On May 12, 2011, several men will be travelling from FBC Watauga to fulfill a service similar to the one undertaken in May 2010.
In May 2010, several men from traveled to Custer, SD to work at Camp Volunteer. This is a small church camped owned by Custer First Baptist Church. The church generously allows various ministries to hold camps at retreats for children, youth and adults at little or no cost. They depend on volunteers for upkeep and maintenance on the camp facilities. The men from FBCW spent several days restoring a cabin, raking and preparing the camp grounds, restoring playground equipment and various other needed maintenance. By the time we left, the camp was ready for the influx of summer campers eager to learn about our Lord.
In June 2009, The YACS (Young Adult College Students) from FBCW traveled to Custer, SD to assist with the Black Hills Area Children's Camp. Zack Hudson served as the camp pastor. The team did a wonderful job and had a great experience. Five children came to know Christ during this week!
In the Spring of 2009, Br. Dennis let a team of eight adults to prayer walk and survey the community of Summerset, SD. This is in anticipation of planting a church in a community that has no evangelical church.
